2011 is here

So here it is, 2011 already. Crap. Totally wasn't ready. *sigh*
But, new year, means new goals, and a look back over last years goals.
Let's look back over last year first...
1. Got some more things we need to do to the kitchen - replace the stove cause the circuit board in the old one is screwed up and we don't have the book to order a new one, nor can we find it online. Plus, I want a dishwasher this year.
2. Again, try to get a teaching job. At least I am currently working full time, which helps immensely, but I want to be teaching rather than working retail.
3. Get twelve chapters of Undertow written this year and start posting in June. *crosses fingers*
4. Enjoy being a parent and making the most out of this time. My daughter is absolutely beautiful and I don't want to miss a moment. This time next year she'll be walking. *sigh*
5. To write 100k words total for the year.
Again, epic fail. Some of which was beyond my control. I was extremely close to at least getting my application in for a teaching job. They closed ten minutes before I got there and refused to accept anything late, even though I could have had it turned in before 10am the next day. Screw them, I hope the new teacher sucks.
We did get a new stove, but no dishwasher or finish the remodeling. Having to replace the garage roof because we got so much snow that it caved in was a little more important. But hey, at least some home improvement got done. *beams*
Yeah, one chapter of the sequel, and we won't even mention the writing.
But most importantly, I did enjoy being a new parent. Lucked out in that I didn't miss too much working full time. I got to hear the first time she went on her 'momomomomomomom' kick. Saw first steps. *sniffles* My baby is growing up way too fast. And yes, she is walking, has been since 9 1/2 months. Not only that, she's hitting 15 month milestone in muscle control according to the doctor. Which mostly means, it's exhausting to keep up.
So, for 2011...
1. Again, make sure I take time to enjoy being a parent, and watch my little girl grow into a toddler.
2. Get those
wishlist_fic fics completed and posted by the end of February. I has originally planned for the end of January, but that's not going to happen because of the craziness of work. booooo
3. At least just work on the sequel to Undertow. At this point, I'm just hoping to get chapters written, let alone anything posted.
4. Get the drop down ladder installed for the attic and put down a partial floor so I can start using it as a storage space so we can empty up the basement. The good part, is that my parents are buying us the ladder as a late, late Christmas present. So we just need to pay for some 3/4 plywood to lay down as flooring.
5. finish cleaning out the crap from the basement. It's loads better since hubby was able to move stuff into the now nicely roofed garage (one of the reasons it collapsed was because it was rotting in the first place. we always knew we'd have to replace it) But we've got stuff stored down there since we moved in and obviously we don't need the stuff since I'm not really missing it. The ultimate goal is to turn it into a family/game room on one side and a laudry/craft room on the other. I don't care if we don't get that far this year, but I at least want to clean it out so we can start on finishing it in 2012.
6. Be online a little bit more this year. I feel like I've abandoned everyone and I know it's partially because of the crazy huge changes, but I still feel a smidgeon guilty. I miss you guys a ton!!!
7. Host monthly girls night. Had the gal pals over last Saturday and I can't tell you how much my mood has improved for this week. Even with the absolutely craziness that is coming at work, I'm totally not stressed at the moment over it. So
thesnotmonster,
calistal, and
femmartist79 be prepared. And yes,
femmartist79 I know you will be gone for a large chunk of months while you're off getting smarter at grad school, but by golly you'll be here when you come in to visit. :)
8. And, of course, try to get a teaching job. Like that one was a shocker. ;)
