A Favor

So I have a favor to ask of you all. A lead up to why I need this favor. Starting in January I'm taking a six month hiatus from writing. Just writing, not the internet. I'll be around, just not actively writing. Why this crazy move you ask? As some of you already know, I'm pregnant, expecting my first child. Baby is due at the end of December, literally, the end of December. I don't want to have divided focus during those first few months while we're trying to do the whole adjusting thing. BTW, no we don't know what we're having yet, and the earliest we can find out is Aug. 14. Cause I know the first thing you want to know after when the baby is coming is what you're having. I know, cause I'm the same way. ;)

Still, you're asking yourself, what's the favor? I'm really wanting to get as much of the sequel to Undertow written as possible before the baby arrives. And one of my goals for the year was to try and write 20k words in one month. August is light for me, work wise and baby planning wise, plus I've got a week off later in the month. So I'd like to use the time to get a lot of it knocked out and maybe a drabble or two.

My problem is that my muse is being stubborn and is stalling on the whole writing thing. So if you guys could, periodically throughout the month give me a push and inquire about my progress that would be soooooo helpful. I know, usually I hate it when people pester me about my writing, but I'd really like to get as far along as possible. So email me, lj messenger me, poke me while I'm online on yahell, whatever. Feel free... just remember to be kind. ;)

In effort to get the muse back into the whole writing groove (cause I really haven't written much in the last few months since I was working two jobs and going through the whole fatigue during the first trimester thing) I'd like to open myself up to a few prompts for some drabbles. Just give me a pairing or group of characters you'd like to see, and something to associate with them. I'll take the first five prompts given, unless I get through them quickly then I'll take a few more.

And yes Ava, I know I still owe you that Buffy/Castiel fic. I swear, it's percolating.

Here's a drabble prompt for you. One of the newbie witch's spells go wrong and sends Buffy back in time to the Old West. Pick a favorite historical character from that time or a favorite fictional character and have Buffy meet them before Willow pulls her back.

Whew! Wasn't sure I could do this in a drabble form, and I'm afraid I've left out how she got there, but I couldn't help myself. And really, I blame this on AMC and the fact they were showing this nearly every day for two weeks.

Better Sense

Colorado frowned as he watched the pretty blonde enter the hotel’s restaurant. Something about her seemed decidedly out of place, but for some reason he couldn’t quite put his finger on what it was. She was dressed similarly to the other women in town and carried the same weariness about her. And yet, she stood out like a sore thumb and managed to even look a little lost.

Despite his rule of keeping his nose out of matters than were none of his business, he found himself beckoning her over. He’d always shown better sense than to get involved with things that had nothing to do with him, but something in him pulled towards her.

Her green eyes were wary as she approached the table. “Yeah?”

“There aren’t any open tables, thought you’d might like to share mine,” he offered, rising to his feet, using the manners his mother had taught him. “Name’s Colorado Ryan.”

She frowned for a moment as she considered the offer, but she looked around to gauge just how busy the town’s only restaurant was. He could tell the moment she conceded. “Buffy Summers,” she said with a hesitant smile before sitting in the offered chair.

In Another Alley

Buffy and Oz stumbled into the alley. As one, they turned and looked at the wall behind them.

“What the hell was that?” Buffy asked reaching out to touch the brick. It was solid and very real under her fingers. “Do you think we’re even still in Chicago?” She asked turning to look at the redheaded werewolf.

He shrugged and walked to the end of the short alley. His chin lifted as he took in the buildings around them. “We’re still in the University area.”

She frowned. “Then what was that distortion we got sucked through and how did we end up in this alley?”

Oz’s stance shifted and a growl began rumbling deep in his chest.

Buffy hurried over to him, but he refused to let her pass him. Instead, she was forced to look over his shoulder to see what was raising his hackles. Her breath caught in her throat at the sight of a huge dark brown wolf just to their left.

“Are you going to need to change?” She whispered in his ear.

The wolf backed off and seemed to shimmer for a moment, then a naked man was crouched in the same spot.

“Guess not.”

Storing Up

The air exited Daniel’s lungs in a rush as he was pushed against their front door. Strong hands gripped his shirt and ripped it open as a hot mouth assaulted his lips.

He wasn’t sure why he was surprised at the maneuver, but he was. And really, hadn’t Jack gotten his fill earlier today? They’d been late to work because he had insisted on taking a shower together, had repeatedly pulled him into storage closets at the base every chance he got, and nearly caused a wreck on their way home because he couldn’t keep his hands to himself. By now, Daniel wasn’t even sure why he had bothered getting dressed that morning since Jack had spent the entire day removing his clothes.

Once his mouth had been released, he asked, “Not that I’m complaining mind you, but is there something going on that you want to tell me?”

“You’re going on that mission tomorrow with SG-10,” Jack said before tugging on his earlobe with blunt teeth.

“Yes,” Daniel managed to get out as his brain began to get hazy with lust.

“I’m storing up,” Jack said with a leer, as his hands drifted to the waist of Daniel’s pants.

Congratulations, dear Pol! I'm so very happy for you and your hubby.

I'm totally willing to gently nudge re: Undertow: The Sequel. For more Buffy/Jack, Buffy/SG-13, oh yes.

While I won't offer my own prompt as I still owe you a drabble, maybe two with interest - hope to be able to write a bit in the next few days, I'm willing to second Ava's Buffy/Oz because I love them.
