*taps on microphone* Is this thing on? Is anyone still there? Especially since this account was apparently suspended for a while. But yay! I've got it back up and running.

So, I've had a thought or two. Mostly, I need to get back into writing, because it makes me happier and I tend to run on a more even keel if I have a creative outlet. The past several years have been stressfull and my instinct was to pull in and circle the wagons as I tried to make sense of it all and keep things running smoothly. I took a moment to myself here and there and produced a ficlet or two but for the most part, did very, very little. Even the amount of reading I did dropped significantly as well (both published novels and fanfic), and that's saying something since I work in a store surrounded by books.

I would go into all that has been happening, but I don't want to fill pages with it. Suffice it to say, I made some changes professionally that have allowed me more time at home with my girls, and while yes, it was waaaaayyyy less pay, emotionally it has been better... financially we'd be better if I was able to work more because of the pandemic, but I'm thankful that I do have a job that is flexible with my schedule to allow me to be home when I need to be to help with the remote learning that my girls do. Our local school board elected for a blended model with cohorts to give some in person instruction with much smaller class sizes, but remote on the other three days of the week. My youngest, who has asthma, is in first grade but there are only 2 other kids in her classroom on her days in school. My oldest has more but still manageable. And I have to say, our school is personally rocking it. The teachers are bending over backwards to make sure their students are being taken care of. I'm also aware that while we have been able to make it work with minor hiccups, others aren't in so lucky of a position or have the benefit of being a trained teacher.

But what you are really interested in, or at least, I hope so - writing. My goal is to write every week. Maybe a lot, maybe a little. The amount doesn't matter. I just want to write. I want to try and get something written.

Do I have any specific stories in mind? I have a few rattling around in my head that I would like to try and get fleshed out.

Will I work on any old WIPs? Possibly. Some of them are so old that I've lost notes and don't know where I was originally going with them. I have been binging some shows as of late, some old favorites, some new ones, so I don't know what will spur the muse into action. Don't hesitate to ask about any of them. Who knows, it might click something in the brain and get me going.

How will you know what I've written? I'm hoping to make a progress post every weekend to let you in. I may even post a snippet of that week's work to get some feedback, which is always helpful.

Can you do anything? Sure! Feel free to drop me a line, comment on posts, bug me to write. Any incentive will be welcome! I'm on multiple platforms - the old standby Livejournal - polgara_5, Dreamwidth - polgara_5, and tumblr - polgara5.
