Busy, Busy, Busy
Apr. 25th, 2009 09:47 amJust letting everyone know, it's gonna be hard to get in touch with me for the next week or so. This weekend hubby and I are working on one of my goals for the year - redo the kitchen floor. And lemme tell ya, I'm glad we're doing this now and finding the problems while we have the money to fix it, then it become a huge problem farther down the line and not have the money to fix it. Seriously, found rotten flooring under the fridge - not good.
And another thing - anybody who plans on putting down any type of new flooring. Do the next owners or your future home project self a favor - PLEASE! pull up the original flooring you're replacing. Don't just put it down on top of the old. My kitchen floor (over top the original 100year old hardwood floor) has a layer of masonite and 50's tile (which we are leaving down cause it's protecting the old floor and leveling it out since people have severely mistreated the flooring), a layer of peel and stick tile that is hideous ugly (not that the 50's tile was any better), and then a layer of linoleum. Seriously. This is turning out to be a bigger project than what we had thought.
Plus, I'm stripping off a ridiculous amount of paint off of the molding to take it back to the grain. Someone had painted it a dark wine color at some point *shakes head* So yeah, it's at least 6 layers of paint I'm pulling up. Then will come the sanding and the polyurethane. But it's all gonna be soooooo pretty when I'm done. I'll post progress shots once we're finished.
Next thing. This week is hell at work. One manager is off to be a bridesmaid somewhere and will be gone for most of the week. The GM is taking the second half of the week off because it's her anniversary. And the new manager doesn't start for another week. That means there are two managers for most of the week. *head desk* Yeah, I'm working much longer shifts than I normally do, which means twice the hours than usual.
So between redoing the kitchen and work, my internet time is going to be cut drastically. I'll do my best to respond in a reasonable amount of time, but don't be surprised if it takes me a week or so.
