*waves sheepishly*

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been so out of touch, but it's been ridiculously crazy here. The months (yes, I said months) leading up to Christmas were a bit overwhelming and I just sort of phased all sorts of things out to try and ease up what was going on.

So it all started at the end of October when hubby's grandmother passed away. Now, we've been together long enough that I considered her my grandmother as well. To top it off, Miss Thing and I were on round two of a cold. (we went through three rounds, exciting) Not even a week had passed, and the boss lady's father passed away. I went to two funerals in 7 days. Not something I ever want to repeat.

For those who may not know, my boss and I get along scarily well. In fact, we've been asked several times if we're related somehow, and her husband swears we could be sisters. I've been working for her for four years and she is one of my closest and dearest friends. So it's one of those, her pain is my pain as well.

So family issues put us super way behind at work (the other two managers - one at the time was 8 months pregnant and the other had only been in his position since July, just really starting to get a handle on his job). So going into Black Friday a bit behind was frustrating. To top it off, I had major issues in hiring for seasonals and still wasn't fully hired until the second week of December.. yeah, exactly. And to top it off, before Christmas had already fired one and two more quit. Promos changed every four days and the items didn't overlap so we were completely remerchandising and re-signing the store every four days. Exhausting.

I was so behind on my Chrismtas crafting, it wasn't even funny. Shopping wise I was done the week after Thanksgiving. But I had all sorts of craft projects that I never did get them all done.

But Christmas was wonderful. Having a three year old makes it all fun. She loved decorating the house, the tree, helping me wrap presents for other people. Hell, she remembered days later whose gifts they were when we were passing them out. Kid is waaaaay too smart for her own good.

Not doing my New Year's Goals this year. It just makes me sad.

On a writing note: Any outstanding prompts I owe people - sorry, I'm wiping the slate clean. I've been struggling to fill them and the muse isn't cooperating. I'm really wanting to get back into writing and I feel like those backlogs are hovering and they make the muse want to cry. I'm also tossing any previous story ideas that have been floating around this house for the past several years. Relax Ava, not the Buffy/Steve or the Buffy/Bones stuff. Just the fic ideas I've had for years - like a Buffy/House fic... I haven't even watched that show in years.

Also, for those waiting on the Undertow sequel... *winces* You're gonna have to keep waiting. Not feeling the Stargate love. Jack isn't speaking to me. However, I'm planning on doing a show rewatch this year and maybe that'll kickstart things. It always helps when I do that with BtVS. *crosses fingers*

so how has everyone else been?

Am sending lots of massive hugs and positive vibes your way. I also hope your 2013 is worlds better than the last half of your 2012!

I hear you about muse issues and can't blame you in the least for needing to wipe the slate clean. Here's hoping we can both persuade our muses to talk to us again, regardless of whatever fandom the muses decide they like.

Little Miss Thing sounds absolutely awesome and I'm glad to hear that she is so smart. We need more smart people in this world!

*more hugs*

*hugs back*

So far 2013 is going well, thank goodness. :)

Miss Thing also currently believes she's Spider-man. She's been jumping off of any surface she can climb onto in the house and doing his pose in mid-air. She was playing in her room the other day and I heard her exclaim "I save you Captain America! I save you!" Not sure where she got that since the Spider-man cartoon she's been watching doesn't have him on it and she hasn't watched the Avengers cartoon in months. Some days are more entertaining than others. :D

Hope your 2013 is awesome!

I'm sorry about your husband's/your grandmother and for your boss'/friend's loss as well.

You have my sympathy over the retail at Christmas travails. Yay for it being over!

I hope you and Miss Thing are all better now.

I'm so glad you all enjoyed Christmas - it sounds wonderful.

Bad Jack! However, I love your Buffy/Bones. Steve is Captain America? I'd look forward to that.

Regardless, best wishes for your writing and your other artistic/crafty pursuits. I'm actually feeling fairly craft-y these days although currently I'm working through a backlog of library books instead of watching cheesy Christmas movies and knitting.

I hope 2013 is a wonderful year for you and your family, Pol.

Go me! I thought it was him - although wondered after I hit send if it could be Steve McGarrett (although I think they'd be too scary...) - which is awesome because I've wanted to see a Buffy/Steve pairing!

Hi! Happy 2013! {{{{YOU}}}}

lol, you two are so funny. :)

And yes! The Steve is Cpt. America. I've had the plot bunny for quite some time, just holiday retail sucked any desire to write out of me. However, I'm now itching to write. *g*

*hugs you back!*

Thank you for the Gingerbread man! He's adorable. (Luckily I'm too full to want to eat him ... *g*)

I think you're marvelous regardless of what you write (or don't write even). *smishes*

2012 was a crap year. I'm looking forward to what 2013 brings. I'm doing my best to keep my spirits up. Two days down only 363 (is this a leap year?) more to go. ;)

Edit: 'cause I can. *smooches*
